VERY URGENT – Last Chance to Object to Leeds Site Allocations Plan!

As from today there are now exactly 14 days to respond to the Leeds Site Allocations Plan which proposes to build houses on approximately 42% of Green Belt land across the Leeds region. The deadline for submission of objections is 5:00pm on Monday 16 November 2015.  One way of protesting is by downloading a form from but if you do this you will only be able to comment on one individual site which is probably a Leeds City Council ploy to make regional protests more difficult. Savage Weather does not deter Marchers in Battle to Save Greenbelt

Despite being handicapped by the most inclement weather conditions, bringing heavy rain and strong winds, the marches yesterday in support of the Community Voice on Planning National Day of Action and encouraged by WARD were a resounding success!

In Menston, the joint WARD (Wharfedale & Airedale Review Development), Menston and Guiseley Greenbelt Protection Group rally to save Ings Fields from developers was attended by more than 100 people.  Continue reading

CoVoP National Day of Action Sunday 12 April 2015

Community Voice on Planning (CoVop) has organised a national day of action from over 85 affliated groups representing communities as far apart as Cornwall, Cumbria and Durham.  As a member of CoVoP WARD has agreed to join two demonstration walks planned for Aireborough (see details below):

Broad Agreement at Planning Conference – Localism is not working!

At a successful Planning Conference entitled ‘Planning Issues and Localism ….. Is it working’ which was hosted by Wharfedale & Airedale Review Development (WARD)  in Ilkley last week there was unanimous agreement from local residents about the urgent need for reform to the NPPF.  The conference was attended by three local MPs, Stuart Andrew (Pudsey), Greg Mulholland (Leeds North West) and Philip Davies (Shipley) who have consistently, over the past five years, supported local groups, including WARD, in efforts to rebalance the planning system so that it reflects the needs and wishes of local communities as was originally intended by the Localism Act.
