Rawdon Billing Action Group (RBAG), has let us know that the group are now up and running with a committee of eight and a constitution. Members come from a range of backgrounds, with vital skills for the task ahead – these include a lawyer, a chartered accountant, a surveyor, a website adviser, a graphic designer, and a retired teacher.
They aim now is to harness the strong feeling locally about the proposed sale and development of this ‘heritage’ site. RBAG are hoping to make their presence felt around the village and, amongst other activities, will have a stand at Rawdon Fun Day on 9th June to meet with people and raise funds. The Yorkshire Evening Post have been particularly supportive of this campaign – see the latest article and picture, along with the Wharfedale Observer.
RBAG will also be building up their knowledge and expertise on the use of the Billing and how it fits into local life, so as to give it as much protection as possible. This knowledge will then be used as part of the neighbourhood plan for Rawdon and Aireborough, that will mean local people having much more say over the planning of their area.
RBAG also said it is “extremely grateful to WARD members for facilitating its initiation and providing helpful advice.” To which we reply, it is mutual, as we are all here in common cause to help each other.
